Wow. I had the most difficult time categorizing this. Technically,
everything here has been rendered and/or painted, but it really
isn't a painting. And although it looks like a photomanipulation,
the entire image is fake. Definitely a tricky one, but I like it.

Today in Photoshop III, we practiced rendering water without
using stock photography or references. Everything was made
possible by filters, effects, and brushwork. A bit of warping as
well. Strangely enough, it was very simple to accomplish, even
with so many steps. Everyone could do it quite easily enough!

Here are some of the tools I utilized to create this:
- cloud render
- fibers
- gaussian blur
- motion blur
- plastic wrap filter
- chrome filter
- transform/warp
- blend modes
- brushwork (minimal)

Crazy, huh? I liked the result enough to post it here. We do mini
in-class projects like this each week, but they're hardly impressive.
I did put a fair amount of effort into this one, trying to make it
look believable and pretty. I hope you like it as much as I do!

When school's out in two weeks, I might make a tutorial for this.
That is, if any of you are interested. You probably know how to
use all these tools very well but have never tried them together!

Rendered in Photoshop CS4 on June 9th, 2010.
