One portion of our final group project for Digital Publishing class.
We were to pick a "dead artist" from a list and create a CD booklet
for one of their albums. I was assigned cover art, so voila!
This is our final CD cover for the Johnny Cash album.

Created in Photoshop CS3 on March 30, 2009.

:D Well, at least you're the jealous one this time.
I'm always the one jealous of your stuff---especially of those
swirls that you doodle on everything! Gah, they're too good.

I made this in... Photoshop.
Probably should redo it in InDesign, huh? :giggle:

Pretty good but some colors like the blue on the guitar and the green didn't seem to fit right in. I assume it's a blending option?
Problem is, it's easy to notice a flaw and complain about it but often the complainer doesn't have a solution. And indeed, I have no idea what to do about those colors. Only advice is maybe the use of a photo filter?

Still, it's pretty damn impressive and great choice on Johnny Cash

 It was a blending option (which I'm obsessed with because I think they're magical).
But the blue and green were intentional for me, so that I could work in some cool
colors---everything felt so monochromatic and dull without them.

I'll try a few things out and see if I like it without
those colors. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it!
And of course, thank you for the compliment. :aww:

This is awesome! Suggestion? Try taking the texture away from the guitar itself? Or lower its opacity a TON.. make it center and concentrate on it. I think it'll totally make a HUGE difference if you can tweek it right. Its amazing already, of course, but I think that might set it apart from the every day manip ;).

Anyway, looks AMAZING.

Oh man... I hadn't thought about taking the texture off the guitar.
I'll have to experiment with that and see what happens!

So you think I should center the guitar on the actual canvas?
That could work, too. I'd have to do some reorganizing, but that's okay.

:glomp: Thanks so much! I love your critiques to death.

No i dont mean actually center it, i mean if you take away the opacity of the texture on it it will center the EYE on it. Draw them in, make it a center of attention along with the text. Get it? lol

I love giving it to you btw! You take advice so well :)

Gotcha! That makes total sense now.
I do see how the guitar kind of gets lost behind the texture. Good eye!

:D Thanks, I try. I figure it's the only way I'll ever grow!
